The Third Annual Spring Bird Festival at Colonel Samuel Smith Park was a great success. It was near perfect weather for a festival, which means a bit less than perfect for finding migrant songbirds. In and around the festival plus the sightings for three birdwalks totaled 58 species, including the star attraction, a few flocks of Whimbrel.
Here a re a few photos from the festival, mainly from the raptor demonstration. The 11:00 raptor demonstration proved so popular that we actually cancelled the 11:00 bird walk.
