January 2010 Bird Walk

We had an amazing 23 participants on our January Bird Walk. We often have more people, but not on a really cold day in January. The participants were impressive too: nearly everyone risked frozen extremities to stay for the whole 2 hours.

We managed to find a respectable 21 species, but none of the hoped for stars of the show: owls. Several species have been found in the park this winter, but not during our 2 hours on January 9th. We searched many likely spots and found fresh evidence of owls, but not the birds themselves.
