MarchGroup

Glenn Coady lead a very successful birdwalk on Saturday, March 26th. With well over 40 participants, we set an attendance record for March walks. A late snowstorm days earlier gave us a more wintery walk than expected, but the warm weather earlier in the month encouraged many of the waterfowl to move further north. We often see large rafts of ducks on the March walks, but most of them had already moved on by the 26th. We found a total of 35 species:

Pied-billed Grebe
Horned Grebe
Trumpeter Swan
Mute Swan
Canada Goose
Mallard
Gadwall
American Widgeon
Greater Scaup
Long-tailed Duck
White-winged Scoter
Bufflehead
Hooded Merganser
Common Merganser
Red-breasted Merganser
Ruddy Duck
American Kestrel
Killdeer

Ring-billed Gull
Herring Gull
Mourning Dove
Downy Woodpecker
American Crow
Black-capped Chickadee
American Robin
Northern Mockingbird
European Starling
American Tree Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
Common Grackle
Brown-headed Cowbird
House Finch
American Goldfinch
House Sparrow
