Birders Nov 09

Our November 14th walk, led by Don Burton at Humber Bay got off to a bit of a slow start when there were almost no waterfowl in the usually crowded bays on the east side. We found more and more as the walk progressed and ended up with 30 species including the star of the show: a male Harlequin Duck in close at Humber Bay West.

Other notable sightings included 2 Great Blue Herons, 3 Black-crowned Night herons, Northern Mockingbird, and Red-breasted Nuthatch.

This was our first of our Humber Bay winter walks for this season. One of the nice things about teh Humber Bay walks is that it’s nice and close to go warm up with our sponsors, Birds and Beans, afterwards.
